As I've said on many episodes of 50 For 50, when we start our research on an artist and the album we're going to discuss, I try and listen to that artist's entire discography. The easiest way for me to listen to music attentively is during my daily workout.
With some artists, the music doesn't really enhance my workouts in any way. Imagine me listening to Luther Vandross' Dance With My Father while doing kettlebell swings. So when it was time for us to cover A Tribe Called Quest, my workouts were excited. I mean, I was excited to listen to something that would generally amp me up more than normal.
