When it came time to choose our Top 5 (full episode below) for Luther Vandross, I had to figure out a way to show my love for the last two albums of Luther's career, but also to not come off as a fake Luther fan. I know that most people would find Luther's early career and his 80s run to be their favorite Luther, but there was just something about two songs on his last two albums that spoke to me.
Researching his 50 For 50 episode really was heart-wrenching for me as I explained in the episode. There was so much to him that because of the times, had to stay hidden, even in his lyrical expression. And when he passed, I did lean pretty heavy on "Dance With My Father" because I thought it was a beautiful song.
